Tom Ford SS18 NYFW

By  |

What once was; now is – especially when translated into a fashion narrative, visual composition, or trend. In retrospect to that, New York Fashion Week’s 2018 Spring Summer season was kick started by industry icon, Tom Ford.
His collection was nothing but an audacious recollection of 90’s glam.

As David Bowie’s “Fame” soundtrack started, opening and closing the show was the “It” model of the season, Binx Walton. Joining her on the runway were Joan Smalls, Gigi Hadid, and Kendall Jenner. Adding onto the elite model lineup, were the front row guests – Chaka Khan, Cindy Crawford, Karlie Kloss, Kim Kardashian West, and Tom Ford’s muse, Juliane Moore.

The collection involved tailored suits with firm paddings, abstractly sequined dresses that screamed Studio 54, leather shirts with high neck collars, and finally, denim. If that doesn’t make you nostalgic for the 90’s, we don’t know what will.

The season started off on nothing less than a celebratory note and the coming days will hold nothing but effervescent individuals, noteworthy shows, and pieces that will leave us swooning.
