Five of the best afternoon teas for children in London

By  |

The origin of afternoon tea is thanks to Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford. In the early 19th century, when most people were content with just two meals a day (breakfast and a late evening dinner),  Anna complained of “having that sinking feeling” during the late afternoon and demanded a third meal.

The duchess began with tea and cakes in her bedroom. This later evolved into a social event, that made way for a grand ritual of scones, sandwiches and baked goods in tea rooms and hotels around the country.

As we’re in the middle of summer and most parents are occupied with keeping the kids busy, We’ve picked five of our favourite afternoon teas that your kids will love in London.
