#MYCALVINS by Solange Knowles

As I nonchalantly walk around in #MyCalvins, I marvel at how Calvin Klein has established itself as far more than a brand; ever since Raf Simons took over the brand, it’s been a modern millennial hype (emphasis on millennial).

In it’s recent #MyCalvins campaign, American singer, and songwriter, Solange Knowles, took over the casting, and direction of the shoot. Viewing the aftermath of Knowles’ latest artistic turn, it’s fair to say that she outdid her self, and that shouldn’t come off as a surprise.
Alongside R&B singer Kelela, previous collaborator and “Blood Orange” singer Dev Hynes, Caroline Polachek and Kindness (a.k.a. Adam Bainbridge), Solange demonstrated her artistic vision beyond her own music, and style aesthetics.

Dressed in Calvin Klein denim and underwear, the theme of the shoot revolved around “Our Family”. “The overarching message of the campaign has family at its center, a display of unity between strong individuals, further emphasised by the symbolism of the traditional American quilt, a statement from the all-American brand read.
The campaign was shot by Willy Vanderperre, and was overseen by the brand’s chief creative officer, Raf Simons. The “Don’t Touch My Hair” artist indirectly states that she has quite a lot up her sleeves, and with all the rave that the campaign’s been getting, could this possibly lead into another career platform?
