Iftar at Meet Bros, Shoreditch: Where Bold Flavours Meet Ramadan Nights
In a city filled with Ramadan offerings, it takes something special to truly stand out. Tucked into the creative heart of Shoreditch, Meet Bros delivers an Iftar experience that is both delicious elevated and deeply welcoming.
The urban industrial décor is perfectly at home in East London, exposed textures, modern finishes, and an atmosphere that balances trend-led aesthetics with warmth. Meet Bros is stylish without trying too hard, energetic yet comfortable, exactly what you want for gathering with friends and family after a long day of fasting.
Iftar began traditionally, with dates and fresh fruit, a simple but grounding start that sets the tone for a menu that consists of bold, contemporary flavours.
The opening savoury dishes immediately showcased the kitchen’s personality.
The steak sando arrived as a rich, indulgent take on the classic sandwich. Tender slices of steak were layered with truffle mayonnaise and finished with a delicate topping of caviar, an unexpected pairing that elevated what is usually a simple steak sandwich into something far more luxurious.
The pulled duck offered another twist on a familiar favourite. Instead of the usual thin pancakes associated with duck dishes, it was served with thicker crêpe-style pancakes that gave the dish a softer, more comforting feel. The duck itself was tender and flavourful, bringing a slow-cooked depth that paired beautifully with the pillowy texture of the pancakes, turning the dish into something more indulgent than the classic version.
Meanwhile, the Asian-style guacamole introduced a welcome burst of freshness to the table. Bright, acidic and lightly spiced, it cut through the richness of the other dishes while still feeling bold and vibrant in its own right. It was served with cassava chips that were wonderfully crisp and slightly nutty, adding a satisfying crunch and making the dish surprisingly addictive.
The mains were flavourful and packed a huge punch balancing bold Southeast Asian flavours with comforting Western touches.
The curry kapitan crispy lamb ribs were deeply aromatic and beautifully executed. The lamb was tender beneath its crisp exterior, coated in the rich, spiced curry kapitan sauce that delivered layers of warmth, sweetness and gentle heat. The dish struck a satisfying balance between richness and freshness, allowing the bold flavours of the curry to shine without overwhelming the plate.
The steak was another standout. Perfectly cooked and wonderfully tender, the quality of the meat speaks for itself while still feeling indulgent. It was paired with a decadent potato gratin layered with truffle mayo and finished with parmesan, creamy, savoury and deeply satisfying. The gratin added a luxurious richness to the dish, elevating the steak into something that felt both comforting and refined.
The rendang pasta delivered one of the most memorable moments of the meal. A bold fusion concept that could easily have felt gimmicky, it instead worked beautifully. The slow-cooked depth and spice of the rendang sauce coated the pasta perfectly, creating a dish that was intensely flavourful, rich and incredibly satisfying. Indulgent yet balanced, proving that the combination of Italian comfort and Southeast Asian spice can be surprisingly harmonious when done well.
The garlic fried rice, cooked with wagyu fat, was fragrant, deeply savoury and packed with umami, it was easily one of the most addictive dishes of the evening, and arguably the best fried rice we’ve ever tasted. The wagyu fat gave the rice an incredible richness and depth of flavour, while the garlic added a punchy aroma that made it impossible to stop going back for more.
Despite the variety and generosity of the spread, the meal felt cohesive throughout. Each dish brought something different, richness, spice, comfort or freshness.
Dessert continued the indulgence with a trio of sweet finales. A Belgian chocolate fondant arrived with a perfectly molten centre, delivering that classic, deeply chocolatey richness that never fails to satisfy. The tiramisu came with a pistachio twist, adding a delicate nuttiness and subtle texture that elevated the familiar Italian dessert. Meanwhile, the coconut and mango flan offered something lighter and more refreshing, tropical, fragrant and gently sweet, providing the perfect closing note to the meal.
All of this was accompanied by teh tarik, smooth, comforting and nostalgically authentic, tying the entire dining experience together with a warm, familiar finish.
What truly elevated the evening, however, was the service. Led by Sasha, the General Manager, the team moved through a busy Iftar service with ease and warmth. What we couldn’t help but notice was how genuinely happy the staff seemed.
In high-pressure service periods, particularly during Ramadan, that kind of energy is rare. The team appeared proud, engaged and present. It transformed the meal from simply “good food” into a genuinely memorable experience.
Another detail worth noting: there is a dedicated prayer room on site. For many diners, that consideration makes all the difference when choosing where to break their fast.
Bold flavours, generous portions, an atmosphere that fits seamlessly into Shoreditch’s creative pulse, and service that feels heartfelt rather than transactional.
If you’re looking for an Iftar that balances modern East London energy with traditional warmth, Meet Bros deserves a place on your list.
